Overnight the U.S. Congress passed, and this morning President Trump signed, a short-term spending package, including a clean extension of the EB-5 program until March 23, 2018.
Important note: Although the EB-5 extension is attached to the widely hailed two-year defense-spending package, it remains a “stand alone” piece of legislation.
Congress watchers agree, EB-5 Programing could realistically see a legislative vehicle for reform and long-term reauthorization. The expectation is that Congress and the EB-5 industry will use the coming six weeks to gain consensus on the EB-5 Program.
Currently, there are a host of advocates working alongside their legislative counterparts to offer critical feedback from the industry as we move towards a workable reform package.
